UFO's in Jerusalem!!

In this clip take on Friday, a ball-shaped UFO descends over Jerusalem only to zoom back into the sky. Is this some sort of camera legerdemain or ancient astronauts dropping by for some decent shawarma?

Two witnesses who happened to be at the Armon Hanatziv panoramic lookout over Mount Zion and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, Israel at 1am managed to film what might be one of the most interesting UFO clips ever captured (see video below). The sighting took place only yesterday on the morning of the 28th of January. The men notice the large ball shaped UFO suspended in the night sky and begin to film. At a little after one minute into the clip the UFO descends almost to ground level directly over the Temple Mount. The craft hovers there for a short while and then flickers and shoots upwards at an incredible speed, to the shock of the witnesses.

Totally swipped from io9 with extra footage I found.

Neil Gaiman's Torment of St. Nick

In his poem, Neil Gaiman reveals Santa Claus' eternal torment and torture.

Watch this eerie video retelling of Neil Gaiman's holiday poem "Nicholas Was..." You know it's going to be a very Gaiman holiday when the first stanza talks about Santa's desire to die.

Extreme Caroling of the Day

Mike “Diva” Dahlquist and his cohorts go caroling around the neighborhood during the early hours of the morning. Not surprisingly, some people have a problem with this.

Somewhat surprisingly, the cops do not

Haha, three police cars show up for "angry Christmas carols"! What's so angry about Christmas carols!

Muppet Proposal

This video will definitely tug at your heart strings!
Sid Ceaser proposed to Sara Prindiville as a Muppet. Really. He has been a Muppet fan all his life. When the time came, Sid ordered custom designed Muppets that resembled the couple and produced a film about them. It was shown along with the previews at a theater he took Sara to. Of course, she recognized who the Muppets were as soon as she saw them. And she said yes! Read the story of how the film came about, see photographs of the happy couple, and watch outtakes and behind-the-scenes footage of the project.

Tron - Playboy Style!

I'm totally geeking out over the new Tron movie. And these images from a recent Playboy photoshoot isn't helping any! Woo-hoo!!

Via TechnoBob: Here’s two things that don’t usually go together: Disney and Playboy. But TRON and boobies? You’ve just struck the perfect chord among salivating male geeks everywhere. The guys over at Playboy just took wraps off a new feature called GAME ON, which pays tribute to the TRON revival that’s hitting peak velocity this week with the impending release of TRON:Legacy.

The pictorial features models Irina Voronina and Sasckya Porto posing in not much more than their birthday suits, painted with glowing with the ethereal cybernetic blue and orange hues of the world of TRON. If you look closely, you’ll notice that they’re riding those awesome real-world lightcycles from Parker Brothers too.

If you head on over to Playboy’s TRON tribute gallery, you can find plenty more glowing boobies and buns to whet your whistle. They’ve also got a fully nekkid version behind the pay wall if your hormones are raging and you just can’t take it anymore.

I was perfectly happy with the images posted, plus why pay for boobies when my GF can show me the real things! ;)

Beer Bottle Christmas Carol

I'm on a roll with all these recent video posts!!

The Swingtop Philharmonic Orchestra, an all-star combo assembled especially for this project, plays “Oh, Christmas Tree” on instruments made from beer bottles in this ad from Dutch brewer Grolsch.

iPad Carols

Via Geekologie: Seen here performing a medley of Christmas classics, the North Point Community Church iBand used nothing but borrowed iPads and iPhones to play what is sure to be remembered as a Santa-slaying setlist this year. The songs actually sound pretty good, but it's near impossible to get past the "band" members bobbing their heads and dancing around like they're doing something cool and not just fingering an iPad to make a bell ring. That said, church-band groupies: do they exist? Reaaally? *dusting off hymnal*

Seven Minutes of "Carol of the Bells", "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Feliz Navidad".

Real Life Wiley E. Coyote and Road Runner Cartoon

Apache Pictures made a short film that imagines Wile E. Coyote and the Road Runner as human beings. It’s called Wiley vs. Rhodes. The special effects are impressive for an independent short film.

Dali's Destino is Finally Available!!

I've noted on here before regarding the stunning artwork and animation of Salvador Dali's collaboration with Walt Disney for a short that was originally to appear in the film Fantasia.

Now, after 64 years, we can finally watch Destino in the comforts of our home on our large screen HDTV's! According to Usa Today's Pop Candy: This week marks the Blu-ray release of Fantasia & Fantasia 2000 Special Edition, Disney's animated epic. While that's pretty cool in itself, one of the extras is worth noting: the landmark collaboration between Walt Disney and Salvador Dali, Destino.

Work on Destino, a seven-minute animated short, began in 1946 but wasn't completed and released until 2003. It contains many hallmarks of the surrealist painter's work: melting timepieces, telephones, figures morphing into each other, even the "ants in the hand" trick seen in 1929's Un Chien Andalou.

The Fantasia release contains the film in its entirety, along with a feature-length documentary about the making of the piece (and why it took so long to complete).

You can watch it on YouTube. I love how such care was put into this film that you can watch it 20 times and catch new images with each viewing. (I recommend seeing it both with the music on and off.)

30 Awesome Disaster Movie Money Shots

When you get a few minutes, head over to io9 and view their list of the best disaster clips from some great movies.

Every great disaster movie has some moments of pure, epic destruction, where everything collapses, burns or blows up real good. Bonus points for destroyed landmarks and victim cameos. Here are 30 amazing money shots from the greatest disaster porn flicks.

For the purposes of this round-up we're defining a "disaster movie" as one where the main point of the film is the disaster. So Godzilla qualifies, butSuperman: The Movie doesn't. We also decided not to include any clips from the venerable 1970s Airport series, but you can watch some of thosehere, here and here.

Below are the splodiest, most cracktastic, scariest and most expensive-looking scenes of destruction from 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, Cloverfield, Armageddon, The Core, Deep Impact, and many other movies. It's in gallery format, so you don't have to wait for 30 videos to load in your browser. If you want to see it in non-gallery format, click here.

Video-Mapping Way Cool!

I found these amazing examples of video-mapping, where video is projected onto surfaces. Well worth spending a few minutes watching.

To celebrate the 600-year anniversary of the Old Town Square astrological clock tower in the center of Prague, the city commissioned a video-mapping lightshow.

600 Years on the macula.

This is a recording of a wicked video projection show perfectly mapped to the front of a mansion in England. You've just got to see it to believe it. It's sort of long, but I recommend watching at least the first minute and then skipping around (there's even some Pac-Man action around 4:00).

ENVISION: Step into the sensory box. Under this name hides the immersive experiment offered by ALCATEL-LUCENT to its customers at the time of the last Mobile World Congress. An experiment containing video mapping conceived by agency SUPERBIEN and the department New Media of the Agency \ Audience. The public was invited to enter a cube and to discover an artistic vision of the tagline of the event: Transforming the mobile experiment.
